BRT route (fast buses) of Khavaran highway is one of the busiest routes. Considering the importance of asphalt quality in BRT (high-speed buses), the respected employer (Tehran Municipal Engineering Organization) announced the use of polymer modified asphalt for the BRT (high-speed buses) track project, and this project implemented using AkaBit AD polymer modified bitumen in 2016.
BRT lines (high-speed buses) are always subject to damage due to high traffic and carrying heavy loads. Many of the problems that have arisen on the surface of these roads occur due to the penetration of moisture under the asphalt layers and the separation of bitumen and aggregates from each other. Therefore, the use of polymer asphalt in these roads can help their quality and efficiency and significantly increase the service life of the asphalt. The noteworthy point in this case is that this project was carried out in the hot summer months and until now the polymer asphalt of Khavaran BRT has not had any deformation or damage, which indicates its high quality and durability. It will not be damaged in cold seasons.
